Private Events and Public Events
that combine elegance, history, and old-fashioned family fun.

By special arrangement only …

Make your Wedding or other Special Event outstanding. Empire Mine’s graceful fountains, stately trees and colorful, well-tended gardens create an enchanting venue that is just as memorable as your occasion.

Traditional Cornish Pastie Luncheons may also be arranged. Served near the old Clubhouse by docents in period attire, these lunches are a delicious way to not only see and hear, but taste what life was like in a busy hard-rock gold mine. Would your group like to join us for lunch?

Everyone’s invited!

In addition to private events by arrangement, several popular public events are hosted here each year.
In May, we host the annual Mother’s Day Springtime Event to pay a special tribute to the great women who have influenced our lives. In late August, there’s our Miners Picnic. Originally held in 1895 to raise funds for miners’ widows and orphans, it’s a tradition, a picnic and an action-packed day for all the family, including an exciting mine-rescue reenactment, live music and tons of fun. The Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, you’re also invited to enjoy Holidays at Empire Mine. With festive decorations, lavish turn-of-the-century costumes, live music and visits to Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves, it’s a stunning start to your holiday season.

In 2017, a whole new tradition began – our “Mine, Wine & Dine” fundraiser.  With outstanding local wines … farm-to-table dining … live music … dancing and more, it’s a sophisticated evening event to celebrate our golden past, while we help protect our Park’s future.  The next “Mine, Wine & Dine” is scheduled for Friday, August 3rd, 2018.

Come and celebrate our history at our annual events.
Spend the day – and enjoy the fun (and the ice cream)!

4th of July Parade takes place in downtown Grass Valley or Nevada City (alternating years). It’s a spectacle that attracts many locals as well as out-of-town visitors. Our docents portray the Bourns, the Starrs, and other significant, colorful characters who shaped our local history. Smiling, waving flags and holding parasols, they add to the pageantry.

Nevada County Fair is an annual five-day highlight each August. In addition to the demonstrations, exhibits, entertainment, food and fun, Empire Mine is there each year to bring our history to life. Be sure and stop by to say hello – and ask a question or two. You’ll always learn something new!
